Jeff Scott

Golf Course Superintendent

Jeff Scott is a Virginia native, originally from Botetourt County. Jeff has a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and Turfgrass Management from Mississippi State University. Jeff has almost thirty years of professional golf experience and fifteen years experience selling heavy construction equipment with his family’s business. Outside of work, Jeff enjoys playing golf with buddies, taking his boat out on Smith Mountain Lake, and spending time with his wife, Pam and their four children.

He spent 13 years as the Golf Course Superintendent at London Downs Golf Course in Forest, Virginia. During his time at London Downs he hosted many golf tournaments and drastically improved the quality of the course. Jeff met with Waller Perrow, who had recently purchased the Mariners Landing Golf Course, in September 2020. Jeff was excited about the courses’ potential and Perrow’s vision for the golf course so he accepted the position of Golf Course Superintendent.

The previous owner of the Mariners Landing Golf Course allowed the course to fall into disrepair. Jeff says that it has been challenging but the progress that he and his team have made to the course so far has been very satisfying. Over the last two years, Jeff and his team have regularly aerated the course, reseeded the fairways in Bermuda grass, improved the tee boxes, updated the irrigation system throughout the course, removed over 1000 dead or diseased trees, and repaved almost half of the golf cart paths. Jeff says that he is proud to have a team of extremely dedicated employees and a great support system from the owners. Jeff believes that with continued effort, Mariners Landing Golf Course will exceed playability standards and once again be a top course that everyone will enjoy.
